Beech Hill is a larger-than-average primary school serving a richly diverse community, with 78.6% of pupils speaking English as an Additional Language and many children beginning school with little or no English. Our Early Years provision is shaped by high levels of SEND, disadvantage and mobility, underpinned by a strong commitment to inclusion, early identification and aspirational outcomes for every child.<\/p>\n
Our Reception practice is particularly strong in early language development, EAL provision, SEND inclusion, phonics and mathematical mastery. We have created a language-rich environment where evidence-informed approaches such as SHREC, sustained shared thinking, Blanks Levels, WellComm, Word Aware, Talk through Stories and Colourful Semantics support communication, vocabulary development and oracy. Purposeful play, a plan-do-review approach and carefully sequenced continuous provision promote independence, metacognition and deep learning.<\/p>\n
Visitors to our setting can see effective strategies for supporting multilingual learners, inclusive SEND practice, high-quality adult-child interactions, and the integration of mathematical thinking throughout provision.
